Exam Provisions – The Maharashtra Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education
Exam Provisions the Maharashtra Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education provides are as follows:
a. Extra time – 30 minutes for senior secondary class (SSC) and one hour for higher secondary class (HSC) students;
b. Exemption from third language (Hindi/Marathi) for SSC students. Students may take a vocational subject instead;
c. Exemption from the second language for HSC students. They can take a vocational subject instead.
d. Exemption from paper II in Mathematics (Algebra and Geometry) for SSC students;
e. Students may take a vocational subject of 75 marks in lieu of Mathematics Paper II;
f. All students get 20 grace marks in board exams
g. A writer may be provided as per the rules of the board.
h. Blind/deaf students can use tape recorders in classrooms during lessons
i. Cursive writing is not enforced
For students of classes, I to IX, the exam provisions by the Maharashtra Board is to appoint a Deputy Director of Education through the Divisional Inspector for similar provisions. Maharashtra remains the only state where children with specific learning disabilities are trained to take examinations, incorporating the regulations, from primary classes onwards.
